Terms of use
The agreement for using Plainscrape. Last updated 7 September 2026.
The service
Plainscrape is a web-extraction API. You send a URL and a plain-English instruction; we return structured data. You are billed by the page we successfully fetch, not by the number of API calls. Failed pages are not charged. We cap how many pages a single request can fetch (currently 10), even if a client asks for more.
Signed-in accounts receive a one-time 100-page trial on signup, which expires after 14 days. Extra pages come from one-time packs. There is no monthly plan allowance. Pack pages expire 12 months after purchase. A later purchase extends the remaining balance; it never shortens it. API access requires a key created from the dashboard. The secret is shown once. You must keep it confidential and treat anyone using it as acting for you.
The signed-out playground is rate-limited. Those limits are operational controls, not a contractual allowance, and we may change them.
By creating an account, buying a pack, or using the API, playground, or related tools, you agree to these terms, the acceptable use policy, the privacy policy, and the refund policy.
Accounts
You sign in with a link sent to your email. There is no password. You are responsible for the inbox that receives that link, for anyone you allow to use the account, and for any keys created on it. Tell us promptly if you believe the account or a key has been compromised.
Your content and target sites
You submit URLs and instructions. We, and providers we use to operate the product, fetch those pages in order to run the service. You warrant that you have the right to request those pages and to use any data that comes back. What you may not ask us to fetch is in the acceptable use policy. We may keep the URL, the instruction, and a short excerpt of output, as described in the privacy policy. We do not keep a standing archive of full extraction results.
We do not control the websites you target. Extractions may be incomplete, delayed, blocked, or wrong. Output is not legal, financial, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for checking the source yourself.
Intellectual property
We and our licensors own Plainscrape, including the site, API, software, and branding. You retain rights in the URLs and instructions you submit. You grant us a licence to process those submissions and the resulting data as needed to provide, secure, bill, and improve the service, and to comply with law.
Payment
Page packs are one-time purchases in USD through Dodo Payments, which is the merchant of record and the seller to you. Pack prices are set by us at checkout. Refunds for those packs are covered on the refunds page.
Availability and changes
There is no uptime SLA. The service may be slow, unavailable, limited, or refused, including for maintenance, capacity, abuse prevention, or security. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. Breaking API changes will be described on the docs when we reasonably can; a security or abuse fix may ship first.
We may update these terms. The “last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update is acceptance of the new terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service and close the account.
You can close the account by emailing hello@plainscrape.com from the account address. We will revoke keys and stop new jobs. Unused pack pages are not refunded. We may suspend or close an account immediately when the acceptable use policy is broken, when we reasonably believe the account poses a legal, security, or payment risk, or when required by law. Unused pack pages on an account closed for breach are forfeited.
Liability and governing law
The service is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, including completeness, accuracy, availability, non-infringement, or fitness for a particular purpose.
You will defend and indemnify Plainscrape and its officers, employees, and contractors against third-party claims that arise from the URLs you submit, the data you extract, your use or disclosure of that data, or your breach of these terms — including claims about personal data, copyright, and unauthorised access.
Our liability to you for this service is limited to the amount you actually paid us for page packs in the twelve months before the claim. If you have not paid, that amount is zero. We are not liable for lost data, lost profits, or indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, even if we were told they were possible.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, have exclusive jurisdiction. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
