Acceptable use
Plainscrape fetches URLs you choose. You are responsible for whether that fetch is allowed. Last updated 7 September 2026.
Who decides legality
You are solely responsible for determining whether the way you use Plainscrape is lawful, including against the terms of each website you target and against any privacy, copyright, or computer-misuse law that applies to you. You warrant that you are authorised to request the pages you submit. Checking a site’s terms before you scrape it is your job, not ours. We do not give legal advice, and providing the service is not approval of a particular use.
If any personal data comes back in an extraction, you are the controller of that data. We process the request as described in the privacy policy.
What you must not do
- Collect information that is not public — including anything behind a login, paywall, or other access control. Do not use Plainscrape to bypass authentication.
- Overload a target: no denial-of-service, no traffic intended to burden someone else’s servers or infrastructure.
- Extract copyrighted or otherwise IP-protected material without authorisation from the rights holder.
- Collect personal or sensitive data without a lawful basis that actually applies to you.
- Use the service for illegal or fraudulent purposes, including phishing, malware, spam, ad or click fraud, fake accounts, impersonation, ticket bots, or unauthorised access to any system.
- Resell Plainscrape, or run it as an open proxy for third parties, without our written approval.
- Attempt to access our internal systems, other customers’ accounts, non-public network addresses, or anyone else’s systems through the service. Do not probe, scan, or overload our infrastructure.
What we may do
We may refuse, throttle, or cancel a job, and we may suspend or close an account, when we reasonably believe this policy is being broken. Suspension can be immediate. We will email the account address at or around the time of the action; we do not promise notice beforehand when delay would keep the violation running. We may investigate suspected abuse, preserve relevant records, and report them to rights holders or authorities where we reasonably believe we should. We are not obliged to monitor every run. We do not promise to police the internet on your behalf.
If we close an account for a breach of this policy, unused pack pages on that account are forfeited and are not refundable. Unused trial pages end with the account. Pack pages do not reset with the calendar month; they expire 12 months after purchase.
Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify Plainscrape and its officers, employees, and contractors against third-party claims that arise from the URLs you submit, the data you extract, or your use of that data — including claims about personal data, copyright, and unauthorised access.
Our liability to you for this service is limited to the amount you actually paid us for page packs in the twelve months before the claim. If you have not paid, that amount is zero. We are not liable for lost data, lost profits, or indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss. These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, have exclusive jurisdiction.
