Who we are

What we collect

We collect information needed to run accounts, meter usage, prevent abuse, and support you.

Account and billing

• Email (required), optional name, trial or pack status, page balance, and login times.
• API key identifiers. The secret is stored so it cannot be shown again after creation.
• Payment references from our merchant of record (pack, amount, currency, status). Card numbers and other payment-instrument details stay with Dodo Payments; we do not receive them.

Jobs and usage

• The URL and instruction you submit, job identifiers, status, pages reserved and used, and any error we show you.
• A short excerpt of extraction output, used for support, billing questions, and abuse review. We do not keep a standing archive of full extraction results.

Site and security logs

• IP address, approximate country when available, browser or client software, referring site, and the page or endpoint requested.
• Account identifiers when you are signed in or calling with an API key (account, email, key id — not the secret).
• A visitor identifier on the marketing site and playground so we can understand use across visits.
• Temporary records used only to enforce anonymous playground limits.

People who operate the service may see emails, IP addresses, job details, and output excerpts when needed to run, secure, or support the product.

Cookies

When you sign in we set a first-party session cookie (about 30 days). We also set a first-party visitor cookie (about 13 months) to understand how the site is used. These are not advertising cookies and are not sold to ad networks.

How we use it

We use this information to provide the service; create and secure accounts; meter and bill pages; detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents; improve reliability; comply with law; and respond to you. We do not sell personal information.

Who we share it with

• Extraction providers — they receive the URL and instruction you submit so the pages can be fetched and structured.
• Email delivery — to send sign-in and other transactional mail (recipient address and the relevant link or notice).
• Dodo Payments — checkout and payment processing for page packs (merchant of record). Card details stay with Dodo; we do not receive them.
• Hosting, infrastructure, and security providers — to run and protect the service.
• Advisers and authorities — professional advisers, or a competent authority, when required by law or to protect Plainscrape, our users, or the public.

Some of these providers may process information outside India. We only share what each provider needs to do its job.

Retention

Account, job, usage, and billing records are kept while the account is open. After you ask us to delete it, we remove or irreversibly redact what we can. We may keep a limited record where we must — for example tax, accounting, dispute, or fraud prevention. Sign-in links expire after a short period. Sessions expire after about 30 days. Operational logs are kept for a limited time (typically up to 90 days) and then deleted. The visitor cookie lasts about 13 months.

Email hello@plainscrape.com from the account address to export or delete that account. We will send what we hold (email, job metadata, usage, payments, and relevant log excerpts) or delete it. We cannot un-fetch pages already retrieved from a target site. Revoked API keys remain as identifiers so we can see they existed; the secret cannot be recovered.

Plainscrape is offered from India. Email hello@plainscrape.com to ask what we hold, to correct an email, or to delete the account. That is a contact address, not a committed reply-time SLA.

We may update this policy. The “last updated” date will change. Continued use after an update is acceptance of the new policy.
